The theft occurred when Ahmed al-Sharaa arrived in Washington, and the discovery of the theft was announced the following day. There are ongoing investigations far from the authority of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham authority in Damascus which told the Associated Press: “Six marble statues have disappeared from the Hall of Classical Antiquities,”.
These ongoing investigations suspect the involvement of an American figure who planned the transfer of the stolen Roman statues from the museum. Suspicion also extends to an Arab airline and a suspicious aircraft that was at Mezzeh Airport, in addition to Syrian figures within Ahmed al-Sharaa’s circle.

There is serious suspicion that the theft is connected to Ahmed al-Sharaa’s visit to Washington.

The stolen statues are priceless—worth billions of dollars—in addition to their immeasurable historical value.
