The American Institute for the Study of War publishes the announced Israeli proposal for a demilitarized zone in southern Syria Southern Syria will be divided into three areas as follows:
๐ต 1 – The first area is the buffer zone (light blue), which Israel took control of after the fall of the Assad regime on December 8, 2024. It extends from the southern Quneitra countryside to Mount Hermon in the north, with a depth of 2 kilometers. It will be supervised by the United Nations.๐ก 2 – The second area (yellow) extends from the western Daraa countryside to the western Damascus countryside and will be a completely demilitarized zone.๐ด 3 – The third area extends from the eastern Daraa governorate, passing through the southern Damascus countryside and reaching the As-Suwayda governorate, and will be a no-fly zone.
