What Was the Price for al-Julani’s Appearance on CBS?
This article aims to expose the hypocrisy of Abu Mohammad al-Julani, now known as Ahmed al-Shara, whose hands are stained with the blood of thousands of Syrians.
Margaret Brennan traveled to Syria and interviewed al-Shara for CBS’s 60 Minutes. During the interview, al-Julani accused the Assad regime of destroying entire communities and displacing 14 million people.
But why didn’t Brennan ask al-Shara about his own crimes? It is widely known that he would struggle to provide justifiable answers for his countless atrocities.
Surprisingly, yet not unexpectedly, al-Shara claimed:
“Today, we have truly saved the people from the oppression inflicted on them by the criminal regime.”
He also stated:
“We have restored hope for refugees and internally displaced people, so they can return to their homeland.”
But what about the documented crimes he has committed? Evidence stored by the CIA, FBI, and Western agencies proves that al-Julani is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Syrians over the past 12 years.
He has targeted Assad’s opponents, and his prisons in northern Syria are filled with political detainees.
He desecrated Christian holy sites and was involved in the kidnapping of two bishops in 2013.
Moreover, what about the displacement of thousands of Syrians over the past six months? Or the killings of thousands in the last nine months, including the Syrian coast massacre, the Damascus church bombing, and the Druze massacre?
These crimes have been documented by a UN committee and the European Parliament.What about the serious human rights violations committed daily by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the al-Qaeda affiliate responsible for the 9/11 attacks in New York?
What astonishes readers is this: How can CBS News promote a man whose crimes are indistinguishable from those of the previous regime, given that his hands are stained with the blood of thousands of Syrians?
Al-Julani and his terrorist organization, affiliated with al-Qaeda, remain listed as international terrorists.
The question for CBS News is this:
What price did the network receive for spreading these lies and hypocrisy?
