The bombing of the Church of the Prophet Elijah in Dweileh-Damascus, which led to the martyrdom and injury of dozens of Orthodox Christians in Damascus, is one link in a chain of past and future incidents against Orthodox Christians, with the aim of exacting retribution from (!!!), outside of what is called legal transitional justice.
All the evidence indicates, without a doubt, that there will be no legal transitional justice, because that legal justice will be a sword hanging over many of those involved in the Syrian military scene, and those implicated in the bloodshed and kidnapping of many from 2013 to the present day.

The targeting of Orthodox Christians in Syria did not begin with the church bombing. Rather, there were threats and extortion targeting a number of Christian cities in central and western Syria. Financial sums were imposed on those cities, as a means of revenge between Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and church figures.
