Videos have circulated showing children defusing landmines themselves in the vicinity of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa, Syria.
One source reported that a mine exploded, injuring one of the children while they were searching for truffles in the same area.
This region is now under the administration of the Syrian Interim Authority, and it is known that it was previously controlled by the Islamic State (ISIS).
After ISIS members escaped from prisons in Raqqa, they are reorganizing themselves, with the tacit approval of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in Damascus, and have established a strong presence in this area.
