USCIRF reclassified Syria to the Country of Particular Concern (CPC).

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) released its report on the state of religious freedom worldwide.

Syria’s designation (to one of the most severe categories). It was reclassified as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).

The decision is based on many factors, some of which:
-Designate Syria as a โ€œcountry of particular concern,โ€ or CPC, for engaging in systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom, as defined by the International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA);

Designate Hayโ€™at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) as an โ€œentity of particular concern,โ€ or EPC, for engaging in systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom, as defined by IRFA, rather than limiting the EPC designation only to its al-Nusra Front subsidiar.

And its important to note that:
USCIRF has been reported that the leadership of the interim authority in Syria is involved in or facilitates systematic, ongoing, and gross violations of religious freedom.

A report titled 'Syria - USCIRF - Recommended for Countries of Particular Concern (CPC)' detailing findings and recommendations regarding religious freedom in Syria.
