Al-Julani’s forces opened fire on US troops in Palmyra.
On Saturday, December 13, a joint patrol of US and Free Syrian Army (FSA) forces traveled from al-Tanf to Palmyra, where they met with a military force from the Syrian Interim Administration.
During the meeting, a member of the Syrian government forces (al-Julani’s forces) called out to the Americans, “You enemies of God!” He then opened fire on the patrol, wounding two Americans and two FSA fighters.The assailant, affiliated with al-Julani, is within the Green Zone.
According to our sources, the individual who targeted the US soldiers in Palmyra is a member of the General Security Directorate and also an aide to Abu Jaber Sufyan, the Syrian government’s commander for the Badia region. He has accompanied al-Julani on several trips.
