In recent days, a series of security incidents have occurred in Damascus, including bombings and rocket attacks.
The most significant event was the armed clash at the Presidential Palace in Damascus on Tuesday, December 30th, where Ahmed al-Sharaa (al-Julani) was meeting with some of his commanders.
They were fired uponโfrom inside the palace, with greater accuracy than the palace guardsโand the clash lasted ten minutes.
According to information leaked from sources close to al-Julani, al-Sharaa’s personal bodyguard was wounded by bullets, while Ahmed al-Sharaa was injured by shrapnel.
Sources indicate that Ahmed al-Sharaa was evacuated to a safe location by a British team present at the palace.
Several figures and their entourages were among the wounded and killed. All were taken to al-Mujtahid Hospital, and the medical staff were threatened against leaking any information. – The incident was kept secret by all concerned countries to prevent chaos and its exploitation by remnants of the old regime and the SDF.
- Britain was pressured to reveal the incident within two days or else find a replacement.
- Mazloum Abdi, accompanied by the commander of Operation Inherent Resolve, visited Damascus, but al-Sharaa did not meet with them and apologized, citing his health condition at the time.
According to available information, the recurring security operations in Damascus are due to Ahmed al-Sharaa (al-Julani) neglecting his group, who adhere to the ideology of Jabhat al-Nusra (al-Qaeda).
The British hold some, but not all, control over decision-making. They are fully aware that the real danger in Syria is not ISIS, but rather Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly al-Nusra), which has not been effectively dissolved.
On another front, Britain has employed three Syrian Christian figures with dual citizenship to pressure Christian patriarchates and churches to remain silent about the violations committed against Christians. Furthermore, there is real pressure to separate Christians from other minorities, such as the Druze and Alawites, in exchange for the safety of the patriarchs and bishops.

Ahmad al-Sharaa (al-Julani) is not in a position of power; he cannot deviate from the British plan.
