Our team reported a controversy within the corridors of the United Nations about Al-Julani’s participation despite the UN Security Council Resolution 2254 which dignated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its predecessor, the Al-Nusra Front, And The UN’s designation remains in place to this moment.
The controversy centers on violations of UN laws and resolutions, and why do the UN General Assebly and the member states of the United Nations ignore the resolutions of the UN Security Council, and the recent UN Commission for Syria who found the war crimes commiited by members of the interim government’s forces, who are member of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) that dignated as terror group. And the European Parliament Resolution of 10 July 2025, that accused HTS terrorist group of carrying out the bombing of the church in Damascus, and the massacer in the coast and in Southern Syria which resulted in thousand of deaths and injuries?
On the other hand, there is a strong movement among Syrians who reject al-Julani’s presence, due to the massacres committed by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.
