Patriarch Yazigi’s visit to Ahmed al-Sharaa came after al-Shaibani’s visit to Moscow. Since then, the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) leadership has been working to arrange the visit. However, this visit will have no impact on the reality that jihadist takfiri factions rule Syria, and al-Sharaa has no authority over them. On the other hand, this visit will not change anything regarding the church bombing. The European Parliament’s resolution condemning HTS for the bombing is clear and based on thorough investigations. The bottom line: Ahmed al-Sharaa has only one solution: abandon the jihadist factions and declare a civil state, headed by a Sunni.
