About a month ago, during al-Julani’s visit to Washington, Byzantine statues and artifacts were stolen from the National Museum in Damascus.

Two days ago, the Syrian Minister of Culture appeared on the Syrian state TV channel (al-Ikhbariya), laughing about the looting of the National Museum in Damascus. When he had asked about the fate of the stolen items, he simply laughed and scoffed, offering no answer.

It is no longer a secret that the ruling Salafist-jihadist movement, backed by Trump, aims to eliminate any historical Christian landmarks.

Father Spyridon Tanous said: The Salafist-jihadist regime ruling in Damascus is brazenly selling off and removing any Christian monuments. Yesterday, a large statue of Saint Paul was removed using a crane, and a month ago, Byzantine Christian artifacts were stolen from the National Museum in Damascus. In addition to burning churches and bombing the church, etc. Protecting Christians and minorities is not achieved by allowing Christmas trees to be erected, but by preserving the historical Christian landmarks that attest to the roots of Syrian Christianity.
