The situation is summed up in a statement by one farmer to ROSA channel:
One of the farmers, in a few minutes, tore it to pieces, explaining in a few seconds the real problem.
“I sell wheat for 19 cents per kilo. To be able to buy a coffee I have to give 16 kilos of wheat. Sixteen kilos of wheat, one coffee. Do you understand that something is wrong?”, he pointed out in front of the camera and emphasized:
“They want to send us young people abroad. This will not pass. The revolution continues! We want you all on our side. Farmers are the greatest force in the country”!
The issue is a war waged by the modern bourgeoisie-imperialists, backed by Brussels, against the farmers. The imperialists in the current government are deliberately plundering the farmers’ sources of income.
But the fighting spirit of the farmers remains undiminished , as they increasingly escalate their struggle against the new bill. The farmers highlight the problems that farmers, livestock breeders and beekeepers face every day, with emphasis on the new bill that provides for the transfer of OPEKEPE’s responsibilities to AADE. They ask the MPs to respond to their requests within 48 hours.
The question we await an answer to is: Will the farmers prevail in their struggle against the tyrannical rulers?
