The presidential palace in Damascus has become the operational headquarters for al-Qaeda in the Middle East and Europe. Now the question is: Can Europe effectively control the al-Qaeda cells that are operating so actively in the region?
X Minority published a report based on leaked information from secret investigations, indicating that Al-Qaeda sleeper cells may pose a security threat to some European countries. The report revealed a new strategy adopted by Al-Qaeda. This strategy based on covert propaganda through Arabic media outlets, and exploitation of individuals and groups in Europe to spread direct radicalizing messages through out the social media.
Investigations had indicated to the role of Ahmed Zaidan, the former advisor to Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri, and currently the mastermind of Al Qaeda in Syria, where he is now alongside Al-Julani – Ahmed al-Sharaa, in the presidential palace in Damascus, which has been transformed into the headquarters of Al Qaeda’s operations for the Middle East and Europe.
