Economically devastated Syria, WHICH now controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) – an al-Qaeda affiliate – which has begun systematically looting what remains of the SYRIANS snd the state’s assets..
Recently, HTS have changed the Syrian currency, printing a new one that is not internationally recognized and cannot be exchanged for a single dollar. Three months ago HTS leaders have been started withdrawing the official currency from the population to buy dollars and steal it.
Furthermore, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham began controversially seizing funds belonging to individuals close to the Assad family, without disclosing details of these funds, such that the money became the property of al-Sharaa, his brothers, and the HTS’s leaders.
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, under the leadership of al-Sharaa, imposed donation campaigns on wealthy individuals, collecting millions of dollars, but no one knows the fate of this money; it vanished.
Ukraine has become an international hub for money laundering. Zelensky is well aware of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s need to launder billions of dollars stolen and looted from Syria.
Months ago, Zelenskyy rushed to strike a deal with al-Julani to launder the collected funds. Zelensky has extensive experience in money laundering and in bringing jihadists into the country, using them as leverage against Europeans to extract billions of dollars in exchange for preventing their smuggling into Europe.
This was the direct reason for Zelensky’s visit to Damascus on a Turkish plane, escorted by the Turkish Foreign Minister. But it’s not surprising to find Tom Barrack‘s hand in these sordid deals.
The common interest between al-Julani and Zelenskyy lies in two points:
First: Laundering Syrian money for al-Julani’s benefit.
Second: Getting rid of the jihadist card in Syria, which puts pressure on al-Julani, so that Zelenskyy buys them off And using them as a bargaining chip against the Europeans.
