In reality, the Antiochian Orthodox Church is besieged in every sense of the word. The Patriarchate is facing Salafist groups that have perpetrated horrific abuses against Orthodox Christians.
The argument was that the Patriarch was a supporter of the Assad regimeโbut here the story is somewhat differentโas anyone who has followed past events will likely realize that this point has multiple facets.
Of course, I won’t discuss the reasons preventing the Patriarch from revealing the truth about the kidnapping of his brother, Metropolitan Paul Yazigi, but what I do know is…” It’s far more serious, and I promised not to delve into this matterโso as not to cause trouble for the Patriarch.
What must be done now is to stop relying on the Patriarch; he won’t even be able to fulfill the bare minimum of his duties.
The agendas are drawn up in Ankaraโand these agendas are being imposed through unethical means. Even the Ecumenical Patriarch is aware of the details of what’s happening.
Of course, I’m not accusing the Ecumenical Patriarchโbecause he can’t confront the deep state in Turkey, which is led by political Islam.
But there must be solutions, not silence.
In my personal opinion, and based on my observation of all the events over the past 15 years, the solution lies in the Orthodox Christian community organizing itself internally, without addressing the situation of the Patriarch and the bishops, given their complete impotence. This is the most they can do, as they live under blackmail and pressure, unfortunately from other Christian denominations. One more point… And here I conclude with the proverb: “He who knows, knows; he who doesn’t know says: ‘A handful of lentils.'”
