Several European countries have announced financial aid to Syria, most recently Sweden with $140 million.
Meanwhile, the ruling authority of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) which governs Syria is spending the money on officials and extravagant displays related to fictitious projects.
Among many and many corrupt things, a document was leaked two days ago from the Ministry of Religious Endowments (Awqaf), which is entirely run by HTS sheikhs, concerning the purchase of 41 luxury cars for millions of dollars.
Meanwhile, the people are suffering immensely, to the point that millions of Syrians are unable to pay their electricity bills. The Ministry of Energy is threatening to cut off electricity and seize property if bills are not paid. It is worth noting that HTS is attempting to plunder what little remains of the Syrian people’s resources.
