Death sentences handed down to 9 members of the Assad regime.
The Court of First Instance in Damascus- Syria issued 9 Sentenced to death, eight in absentia, and one in person.
The absentia sentences included: Bashar al-Assad ( Formerly president) – Maher al-Assad- ( General and brother of Bashar al-Assad)- Fahed Al-frij( former minister of defence)- and all of Wafiq Naser, Louay Al-ali, Qusay Mahyoup, Muhammad Ayoush, Talal Asimi ( all were officers in the Syrian Army and Security Services).
And one in person against Atef Naguib (a former security officer)
These death sentences were issued against 9 members of the Assad regime have sparked widespread controversy regarding the validity of these sentences, while the death sentences were issued against 8 of them who reside in Russia.
