Auburn receives votes in latest AP Top 25 after defeating Georgia

Major changes hit the latest AP Top 25 poll after a wild Saturday of college football action.
The Tigers defeated No. 1 Georgia 27-24 on Saturday, dropping the Bulldogs four spots to No. 5. It was the first time under head coach Kirby Smart that Georgia lost a regular-season game as the No. 1 team. Auburn’s win also impacted their ranking. The Tigers did not make the AP Top 25, but they received 61 votes, putting them behind Oklahoma State and Oregon.
Auburn’s next opponent, the LSU Tigers, jumped four spots from No. 22 to No. 18 in the latest rankings after its 31-0 shutout victory over Mississippi State. Mississippi State entered the game at No. 16 but fell out of the rankings after the loss. LSU is the third-straight ranked team Auburn will face.
Alabama dropped seven spots to No. 13 after losing 26-10 to Tennessee on Saturday. The Volunteers moved up three spots, from No. 14 to No. 11. Kentucky also jumped three spots to No. 12. After being ranked No. 1 two weeks ago, the Texas Longhorns dropped their second straight game to an unranked team. The Longhorns are now ranked No. 19 with no room for error for the rest of the season.
The Florida Gators jumped back into the rankings after their 27-24 upset victory over Texas. Missouri dropped from No. 13 to No. 22 after losing to Ole Miss, 31-3.
