Chargers’ Justin Herbert receives apology from Rams player over comments

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has received an apology from Rams defensive back Quentin Lake over ‘deli meat’ and ‘seeing ghosts’ comments.
Lake grabbed a ton of attention this past week after he made comments about intercepting a pass thrown by Herbert.
“He was throwing deli meat out there,” Lake said on the St. Brown podcast. “He’s seeing ghosts. I don’t know what’s going on, but we knew we were gonna get a couple. At least one.”
Herbert threw two interceptions in their Week 8 contest against the Rams. Lake caught the first of the two interceptions thrown by the Chargers quarterback.
Herbert’s total interceptions are up to 10 in the season.
“I don’t know if he read it,” Lake said. “He probably says, ‘I don’t care about it anymore. I’m not trying to see this. It doesn’t matter. You said what you said.’ But at the same time I . . . felt like it was right for me to at least say,’ Hey, man, I didn’t mean it in any disrespectful way.’”
While Herbert caught a ton of slack for that comment, he ironically had his best game of the season, aside from the two interceptions. He threw for a season-high 257 passing yards and completed 24 of 32 passes for a 75% completion percentage.
Lake called Herbert a “great quarterback” despite his struggles this season.
